2005 Dodge Sprinter Questions & Answers
Why won't it idle until warm?
There can be a few different causes including failed seals, an air leak, cold start injector problems and a sensor failure.
Do the easy things yourself:
1. Check any rubberised fuel lines around the injection system. If they have perished and draw in air you may get the symptoms you describe.
2.
Next time you crank the engine get somebody to spray a light oil such as WD40 onto/around the inlet manifold area - that's the manifold area and NOT in the air intake.
If there's a faulty gasket allowing the engine to draw in air you'll see a cloud of blue smoke from the rear of the car.
wD40 light spray oil .. use this or similar.
3. depending on your fuel injection system itself - the main body - there may be paper type gaskets. If these gaskets are perished it will allow air leakage which can cause starting problems. You can safely use a gasket sealant to repair/replace those type of gaskets.
4. A fuel injection system has a cold start device - it's a 'choke' that excludes most of the air until the engine has started and is warmed. It's electronically operated and is usually controlled by a sensor. Usually when a sensor fails you get a warning light on the dash.
The easiest way is to give a mobile mechanic a call and ask him to run a diagnostic check. Any error codes will pinpoint the problem.
It's difficult to give exact advice unless you are actually there, examining the vehicle. I would guess that the problem is one of the sensors. Fuel/air flow is controlled by sensors .. including temperature sensors
Code P 0299 for 2008 dodge sprinter
This code pertains to the turbo housing resonator which makes the turbo quiet, but is leaking air. Normally, the part is broken into to 2 parts which are glued together. This is the source of the problem, the glue usually fails and this affects the turbo pressure which is usually needed in going uphill. The part can be bought from the dealer or check your after market supplier of this turbo model. On some European cars, this P0299 fault code can also mean that the waste gate solenoid actuator is defective. As such, it could cause turbo inactivity causing the engine to loose power. To check, test the wiring of the turbo waste gate solenoid and the
vacuum supply to the actuator. If OK, the most common fix is to replace the waste gate solenoid.

What is the wheel nut torque on a duel wheel sprinter rear nuts
As you can see from this Mercedes manual page, the specified torque for "wheel nuts" (not bolts, which you probably do NOT have) is 133 ft/lbs. Many reference sources quote a range of "126-140" foot-pounds for the dually-wheel Sprinter 3500.

Reason why I cannot get Cool Air into cab? Hot air only which is a problem on a long journey in summer temps.
Most good shops that service air conditioning for vehicles have a little thermometer that can be inserted into the dashboard vents of a vehicle to measure the temperature of the air coming out of the vent. This will tell you if the air conditioning needs to be serviced or repaired.
I do not use one of those thermometers, but if I remember correctly, they should show around 40 degrees when the AC is working right.
Start by having this checked.
God bless your efforts.
