Same issue here, Sonata 2011 GLS and no key found (but more and more often at winter time) At dealership they said....its 100% computer problem, we can change it for $900 but we dont guarantee it will work normal again. Replaced 2032 battery 3 times made no difference so i thought its a power issue somewhere. i left my car on parking for 2 days for test. Opened door and saw it again...key not found. I connected a booster cable from running car to battery and left it for 10 min to charge. AFter 10 min i had a surprise...key found and car started easily. So its the Hyundai Factory car power design issue. Now i need to change my alternator to cover my theory. thx. ___

'wouldn't crank' means it doesn't turn over, you turn the key and nothing happens, no click, no starter, the engine doesn't move.

Do you means it does crank and turn over but it doesn't fire or start?
If it ran out of fuel it will have burnt out the fuel pump. The gas provides cooling and lubrication for the pump and they burn themselves out in less than 5 minutes. The people that took it will have been trying to start it when it stopped. Get a garage to check fuel pump pressure.

I opened the hood and unplugged the sensor by the water jug for the windshield washer. Probably could add a little drop of RTV and let it dry so that it would push harder on that switch but then I would have to leave the hood open for several hours to let that glue dry. 3 days no problems

You can't do this even if you did know what you are doing! Good of you to admit it though.
The engine ECU has to be programmed with the vehicle VIN Number and also the mileage. It is done with a $3.5k to $5k bi-directional scan tool computer. It would also be good to get a second opinion anyway.

Is the car running okay? If it is, don't worry. Makers make wiring harnesses for all variations of a model and the often have spare connectors with no mating connector for it.
It is impossible to identify what they are, or were unless you have a factory wiring diagram for that specific vehicle. It it worries you, the dealership would know.
