Lower Intake to the block: use sequence pattern below, tighten to 15 Nm, then go back in the same sequence and tighten to 32 NmUpper to The Lower: Tighten to 10 Nm in the pattern, then go back and tight to 12 Nm in the same sequence pattern

On a 2003 it is likely to be breaks or damage in the wiring harness that goes from the driver door into the door frame. All the wires from the driver door switch go though there. With constant opening and closing the wires can work harden, wires break, resistance increases and they burn out and short.
The wiring can be tested for shorts.
