I thought the solenoid had went bad. If I crossed the positive and negative pole on the solenoid it would crank. If i used the push button all I get was chump chump. Bought new solenoid and now it is doing the same thing.

all I had to do on a sable was to replace the belt but look at the battery there should be a wire coming from the battery going to another solenoid mounted under the hood and then going down to the starter get a 12 volt tester and see if you have power going to this solenoid cause it could be dead on one end and not going down to the starter

Hi I'm litoshop if you connected the wires exactly the same way the old solenoid was connected then you have a bad solenoid if the parts are not oem you can get a lot of bad after market parts I prefer original parts to avoid these kind of problems, But if your not sure about the wiring then I need to know how many wires connected to the solenoid what year and engine is your car so I can help you. if this information has been useful please let us know thank you
