If the plate is moving up and down eithetr the teth are set far too high pushing the plate up or the teeth are set too far forward, I would go for the first, if the teeth are coming up well above the slot they are too high, they should be set so that when you look alongside the plate you can just see the top of the teeth, you can adjust the teeth by adjusting the screws underneath the machine where the teeth are.
the high idle could be a dirty needle check your carbs i have that problem with my 550 rmk the reverse light could be your wire harness check your wires with any wire tester idk the specs for it but also clean your connections with some electrical wire component cleaner and use so di-electrical grease if all else fails you may need to bring it to a mechanic for a small fix like that it should run up that high
or the stator backing plate.
Reply With QuoteIf you have the larger 2K-3 ignition the stator has an insert with a single hole in one of the slots to fix the timing. This can be seen in the photo I posted in the DC conversion thread. If you have a 2K-2 the M5 holes in the cases for the 2K-3 will be unused. The upper hole will be visible. If an M5 cap screw and 12mm OD flat washer is snugged down in this hole, the stator plate can then be rotated until it contacts the edge of the washer. The 2K-2stator plate bolts should then be just off center in the slots. This works out well on the 250 and I think the timing for the 300 is the same.,,,
