Rarely do cars come with a block heater unless someone like the dealer installed it.
If you have one, it would look like an electrical plug like the one on a table lamp or toaster. It would likely be out of harms way but findable and accessible, maybe even poking through the front grill of the car.
Have a block heater installation the day light things warm up at night it gets really dry cold that's when the block heater keeps the engine warm enough to start.
Cold weather makes the engine hard to start for two main reasons. First, oil thickens when it's cold, which increases friction and makes it harder for the starter motor to spin the engine. Cold also slows the chemical reaction in the car's battery, reducing its power output. Battery output is usually rated at 77°F, below which starting power drops drastically. You can ensure that your car will start in the worst weather by keeping the engine or the battery, or both, warm. You may want to consider a trickle charger for the battery to keep the chemical reaction working and an engine block heater to make it easier for the pistons to move freely.
small paraffin stove under the engine will help start it,but i have no idea where the heater is on the block ,i would imagine its fitted into a core plug hole about half way up the block but what side ??
Hi bud876 did you get a faulty block heater? if the cord and block heater are new it should work when energized double check for power, as far as glow plugs do they cycle? is the glow plug relay working properly?you would be a lot better going with a circulating heater rather than a block heater, hope this helps good luck
