Sounds like the nuetral detect switch is bad or the wiring to it is cut. This sensor is on the transmission hub.

I used to have one of the Suzuki quads if I remember right you have to rotate the rear axle forward to loosen and backward to tighten

Check gas tank petcock,, its stopped up or broken...

I would check the air filter and then spark plug and then do a carb clean , might also pay to check fuel filters inline and in tank good luck hope you get it sorted

This description does sound like a battery that is running to flat or not charging enough to crank the machine, Assuming the down hill roll is a "clutch start". If you handy with a multi meter, just check the voltage on the battery, if it is not a maintenance free battery it might just need a top up. If it is still the original battery, you might just get away a couple of months or another year by reconditioning it.It might also have the charging cables being loose or worn depending on the use it has. Hey Marty, An internal combustion engine requires three things to run..(if all the internals are good).. 1. A properly timed spark. 2. Adequate compression (>120psi). 3. Proper air/fuel mixture. Start by eliminating one of these at a time...(get a professional to clean and set the carb), install a new spark plug. Get a new fuel line.

Take your battery to O'Reilly's or AutoZone and have the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) checked.. it takes amperage to crank your ATV..not voltage.. DO NOT EVER JUMP YOUR ATV WITH A CAR OR HI-AMP BATTERY CHARGER..TOO MANY AMPS!!!! Have a qualified professional clean and set the carburetor...it will make sure the starting process is easier...new spark plug too... and check the air filter...replace if not perfect!!!
